PlatePuls User Guide
Everything you need to get the most out of PlatePuls — on web or mobile.
1. Getting Started
PlatePuls is currently invite-only during our pilot. To create an account:
- Open the signup page (web) or tap Sign up (mobile).
- Enter the invite code you were given, your email, and a password (minimum 8 characters).
- Check your email for a 6-digit verification code and enter it to activate your account.
New accounts get a 30-day free trial of the Individual plan — no card required to start.
2. Logging Meals
There are three ways to log a meal:
- Photo (AI analysis): Take or upload a photo of your meal. PlatePuls identifies the food items and estimates calories, protein, carbs, fat, and a health score — usually within a few seconds.
- Manual entry: Type in food items and quantities directly if you'd rather not use a photo.
- Barcode scan: Scan a packaged food's barcode to pull nutrition facts automatically.
Only food photos are supported — photos of people or unrelated content will be rejected with a clear message rather than processed.
3. Correcting AI Results
AI food recognition isn't always perfect. If something looks wrong:
- Open the meal from your meal list and tap Correct AI (mobile) or the edit icon (web).
- Edit, add, or remove food items as needed, then save.
- Tap Re-analyze nutrition to recalculate totals from your corrected items.
Individual plan members can additionally choose a High Accuracy re-analysis, which re-examines the original photo with a more capable AI model for a second opinion.
4. Tracking Symptoms
If you're monitoring how food affects how you feel, log symptoms (type, severity, time) alongside your meals. PlatePuls can surface patterns between what you eat and symptoms you log over time.
5. Dashboard & Analytics
Your dashboard shows a rolling summary (7/14/30 days) of meals logged, average health score, average daily calories, a meal calendar, your most-logged foods, and a logging streak. The Analytics tab goes deeper with nutrition trends and food–symptom correlation over longer windows.
6. Nutrition Goals
Set daily targets for calories, protein, carbs, and fat from your Profile. Your dashboard tracks progress against these targets as you log meals.
7. Reports & Sharing with Your Doctor
Generate a PDF report (weekly, monthly, or a 90-day clinical summary) from your logged meals and symptoms. To share a report with your doctor:
- Open the report and tap/click Share.
- A secure link and QR code are generated — share either with your doctor.
- The link is valid for 30 days by default. Anyone with the link can view the report for its duration, so only share it with people you trust, and revoke it if shared in error.
8. Meal Reminders
Enable reminders for breakfast, lunch, and dinner from your Profile, with custom times for each. PlatePuls will send a notification to help you keep your logging streak going.
9. Plans
Every new account gets the full app free for 30 days. After that you can keep using PlatePuls on the Free plan, or subscribe to a paid plan from Profile → Subscription for unlimited use.
You can manage or cancel your subscription anytime from Profile → Manage subscription.
10. Account & Privacy
Manage your name, email, and password from Profile. You can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time:
- In the app: Profile → Delete Account (requires your password to confirm).
- Without the app: use our account deletion page.
Deletion is immediate and permanent. See our Privacy Policy for details on what data we collect and how it's used, and our Terms of Service for the full terms of using PlatePuls.
